When wiring DMX systems, some simple rules must be followed:
- all devices have to be connected in line, that is, a cable must never be split
- a single DMX line must never be loaded with more than 32 receivers.
Doing a star-type wiring increases the flexibility of the system.
A splitter / booster regenerates the digital DMX signal and is the source of a number of new DMX lines.
This way, more receivers can be connected without any load problem.
INCREASED SAFETY
As all inputs and outputs are optically isolated, so defective equipment connected to one output line
will never affect any other line. Ground loops are eliminated, abducted potentials cannot spread around the system.
All this results in increased safety of operation.
TRUE SIGNAL DETECTION
A DMX 512 decoder has been added to analyze the data and show the channel count on a display.
If no valid DMX signal can be detected, the display shows "ERR", which denotes to possible communications problem.
The booster / splitter handles all other RS-485 based data, such as Martin, AVAB or PMX protocols.
The display will only detect valid DMX512 data.
